An unusual space, where ruggedness meets Indianness meets colour meets modernism. That’s what Anardana, a trendy new restaurant in the heart of New Delhi, is. The entire design is focussed on the earthiness of India – a raw and rugged appeal extends to the texture, materiality and colour scheme of the entire space. The brief was to provide an enhanced fine dining experience that merged Indian cuisine with modernism and a twist of retro accents. Anardana’s aesthetic is all about Bollywood flair through a modern manifestation of design, art, and architecture, sparking users’ curiosity.
FLOORED BY TERRAZZO
There is extensive use of terrazzo with a hint of marble on the flooring. “Anardana is designed as a high-end modern space with rustic touches enriched by mud walls, earthy brown paints, high-end furnishings, and creative lighting,” shares Abhigyan Neogi, Founder and Principal Architect, Chromed Design Studio, the brainchild behind this stunning design. The terrazzo flooring, which effortlessly unites all the components and crafts in the restaurant, is one of the signature choices for the space. There are two different types of terrazzo used: one is a grey terrazzo with white marble inlay, which is the main highlight, and has been recognised vastly as an upcoming flooring element. Another is the peach terrazzo with red and white chips that are cast in the central space.
