Ratch Residence is perched atop Avadina Hills at Anantara Layan Residences, a luxury residential development on the western shore of Phuket, Thailand. The six-bedroom property was designed as a bespoke second home for the owner, Ratch Osathanugrah, a Thai businessman and philanthropist with interests in the visual arts and music.
Unlike many of the other villas in the compound, Ratch Residence (built by Takenosuke Sakakura of Sakakura Associates) was not delivered fully furnished. Instead, Osathanugrah wanted a home that reflected his family’s unique style and preferences. This level of customisation was possible, thanks to the generous space for expansion and alteration inherent in all 14 villas in this prestigious development.
the ultimate family retreat
Set on 100 rai (equivalent to 160,000 sqm) of forested hillside, Avadina Hills is surrounded by lush greenery and commands panoramic views of the Andaman Sea and Layan Beach. The 3,373 sqm Ratch Residence provides a tranquil escape from the occupants’ hectic lifestyles in bustling Bangkok.
On arrival, a manicured drive leads to a calming tropical garden. A grand staircase in the entrance descends onto the terrace to reveal ocean views. On either side of the entrance are the dining and living areas, which boast floor-to-ceiling windows that slide back, opening the entire space to calming blue vistas and allowing for the perfect indoor-outdoor continuity.
