Brothers Jerry "BJ" and Mike Navin enjoy riding and building airboats. These two backyard builds were built at their farm in Davie, Florida. Their father, Jerry Gerald Navin, was recently honored at a Florida Panther's ice hockey game for his military service in Vietnam.
"The best part about the builds is the friends and family that would come over after a long day at work to lend a hand or just to hang out and talk airboats," stated Jerry "BJ" Navin.
Mike Navin won 1st for his boat named Tree Reaper, and his father won 2nd for his boat named Spinach Can in the 2023 Broward County Airboat Show in the Fiberglass Automotive class for their backyard builds.
"My boat is mainly for pleasure riding with my wife Nicole Navin and a guest or so. No racing, but I do have a heavy foot most times. The boat got its name the Tree Reaper as I am an ISA Certified Arborist who owns a local tree care company in Davie. I purchased this boat from an old friend.

Airboat History-Airboats for Military Use
The earliest use of an air-driven boat was in Mesopotamia (present day Iraq). In World War I, the British military enlisted the Farman Aircraft Company in France to build boats that could traverse the vast marshland of Mesopotamia as they fought the Ottoman Empire to protect British interest in the oil fields near Basra.
