Office design has evolved significantly over centuries, from the early Roman offices to the open-plan casual offices of today. Studio Deshi’s latest project, ‘A Square Peg in a Round Hole,’ stands out as a revolutionary example in this ever-evolving landscape and it is surely redefining the future of workspaces.
Located in Ahmedabad, India, this 5000-square-foot workspace transcends traditional office environments by integrating behavioural psychology, cultural traditions, design principles, and ergonomic studies.
The project’s name itself embodies a commitment to breaking away from standard norms and creating a dynamic, functional workspace. Co-founders Devanshi Doshi and Shivam Vaidya have crafted a space that merges modern aesthetics with Vastu compliance, an ancient Indian design philosophy aimed at enhancing well-being and productivity.
A STRIKING FIRST IMPRESSION Upon entering the office, visitors are greeted by a striking terracotta parametric wall that pays homage to the client’s core values of blending technology and tradition. This wall, which also integrates a bench, forms a backdrop to the monolithic reception table made of natural Green Forest Indian marble with striking gold accents.
The curves of the parametric design are echoed in the lines on the adjacent wall, enhancing the visual interest. These parametric curves seamlessly extend into the acoustic ceiling of the conference room, improving sound quality and adding visual intrigue.
