'Me, do a reality show? No chance!'

Jamie Redknapp chats about his new game show spinoff and where he draws the line on TV

Jamie Redknapp has been broadening his French vocabulary in A League Of Their Own’s rally special, a three-part show which sees a group of celebs travel across Europe in racing cars.

“Me and Alan [Carr] trying to speak French – that wasn’t great,” says Jamie. “I had to ring up and book a table in a restaurant and Alan was telling me a few swear words to say instead of the right ones, so that didn’t go down too well.”

Managing to book the table in a prime tourist spot, they put their hiccups to one side and enjoyed a Lady And The Tramp moment. “We did a romantic photo in front of the Eiffel Tower,” he says. “Alan was pretty happy to do that. I was the one pushing Alan to eat spaghetti with me rather than the other way round. It was my idea. It was very romantic.”

Jamie and Alan join ALOTO favourites Jill Scott and Micah Richards, plus comedians Maisie Adam, Alex Brooker, Tom Davis and Big Zuu for the epic trip, with host Romesh Ranganathan setting the challenges.

Split into pairs, the gang are sent off on a road trip from London to Turin, Italy, with a mission to beat the others there. Taking in Paris, Lake Geneva and the Alps along the way, Jamie, 51, says it was like going on holiday with his mates.
