It was a night of firsts at the Grammys when singing superstar Beyoncé broke the record for most career awards, Kim Petras became the first ever trans winner and veteran blues singer Bonnie Raitt beat the likes of Adele and Lizzo to a coveted gong.
Former One Direction member Harry Styles also had a career-defining moment when he picked up both Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album – and his former girlfriend Taylor Swift was first in the queue to congratulate him.
The Grammys is one of the biggest events in showbiz, with all the hottest names in the music industry coming together to celebrate the best releases and successes of the past 12 months.
And it was Beyoncé who stole the night as she made history for winning her 32nd Grammy. The star, 41, fought back tears after her record-breaking triumph for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album for Renaissance.
“I’m trying not to be too emotional,” she said as she collected her prize. “I’m trying to just receive this night. I want to thank God for protecting me… I’d like to thank my uncle Johnny who is not here but he is here in spirit,” she said. “I’d like to thank my parents, my father, my mother, for loving me, for pushing me. I’d like to thank my beautiful husband, and my beautiful children who are watching at home.”
