Girls Aloud revealed how they have fulfilled their “last promise” to their late bandmate Sarah Harding, after throwing a huge charity event in her name last week. 

The former band members came together at the emotional gala in tribute to Sarah, who died from breast cancer last year aged 39.

Named The Primrose Ball and hosted by presenter Fearne Cotton at London’s The Londoner Hotel, the event raised a reported £400,000 for The Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal. The appeal helps fund a project at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, led by Dr Sacha Howell, into why young women are being diagnosed with the disease.

Cheryl, 39, said, “After an intensely emotional (and quite stressful) year of planning and organisation, we managed to fulfil our last promise to Sarah.

“None of us can fight this awful disease by ourselves but by coming together, leaning on each other and fighting side by side we can surely try.”
