PRINCESS OF WALES RETURNS TO PUBLIC EVENTS AT TROOPING THE COLOUR
Royal Britain Presents Royal Life|Issue 70
At the Trooping the Colour ceremony on June 15th, King Charles III’s official birthday, all eyes were on the Princess of Wales as she made her return to public duty in her first official appearance since she revealed her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
PRINCESS OF WALES RETURNS TO PUBLIC EVENTS AT TROOPING THE COLOUR

The Princess of Wales’ children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis had also largely been out of the public eye in recent months, but were also present at the event, travelling with their mother in a carriage down The Mall from Buckingham Palace before watching alongside her on the Horse Guards Parade grounds.

For the occasion, the Princess wore a Jenny Packham dress, a hat by Philip Treacy and the Irish Guards Regimental Brooch, as she is the regiment’s Colonel.

As the ceremony began, a convoy of Royal carriages left the palace with the King and Queen escorted by the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, before King Charles carried out the ceremonial review of the guardsmen and officers from his carriage.

TRADITIONAL SHOW

The monarch then received a Royal salute from service members outside Horse Guards Parade as the British national anthem blared over speakers. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murty, were among the crowds gathered to watch.

The traditional show of military pomp and pageantry featured soldiers marching in scarlet coats and bearskin fur hats accompanied by music played by military bands.
