Clothing items have a life of their own a life that should be a circular, continuous one, according to Alexa Schempers. While she loves everything from shopping for clothing and style makeovers to thrifting, recycling and upcycling, this local fashionista keeps proving that stylish dressing can be less wasteful and more authentic than ever before.

WHAT GOT YOU INTO SUSTAINABLE FASHION?

It started with my time at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute while pursuing my master's degree five years ago. Exploring circular business models like reselling, upcycling and vintage was a pivotal part of our curriculum, preparing us to launch our own concepts. These sustainable practices stuck with me, and upon returning to South Africa I saw an opportunity to fill a gap in the market for affordable yet thoughtful clothing.

JUST say NO
