Starring Game of Thrones’ Gemma Whelan and Bel-Air’s Jimmy Akingbola, and bursting on to our screens with a police officer and teenage girl plunging to their deaths from the roof of a tower block, ITV1’s The Tower provided the crime-drama genre with a real shot in the arm.
This week, with the Portland Tower incident still hanging over the force, the four detectives at the heart of the story tackle their toughest case to date.
Adapted by Homeland writer Patrick Harbinson from the third novel by former Metropolitan Police officer Kate London, the fourparter picks up nearly two years on from the last season, with DS Sarah Collins (Whelan) called out to the fatal stabbing of teenager Spencer Cardoso.
STONEWALLED
‘Spencer’s a similar age to Sarah’s sister, who died, and just like she did back then, she feels helpless,’ reveals Whelan, 43. ‘She tries so hard to crack this case but just hits a wall of silence.
