THE FULL MONTY
NEW FROM WEDNESDAY 14 JUNE, DISNEY+ COMEDY DRAMA
It's almost 26 years since British comedy film The Full Monty made the nation fall in love with a group of funny, fearless, unemployed men from Sheffield as they created their own Chippendales-style striptease act to make a living.
Now, the original cast are reuniting for an eight-part TV series, set in the present day, launching on Disney+ this week. The band of brothers - including mischievous chancer Gary 'Gaz' Schofield (Robert Carlyle), lovable Dave Horsfall (Mark Addy), party animal Horse (Paul Barber), shy Lomper (Steve Huison) and grumpy Gerald (Tom Wilkinson) - are still very much in each other's lives as they try to navigate a world where the gap between haves and have-nots has never seemed greater.
Along the way, we will also be introduced to the gang's chaotic entourage of children, grandchildren, pets and various hangers-on! TV Times caught up with stars Robert, 62, and Mark, 58, to find out more...
What was it like being reunited with your fellow original co-stars after a quarter of a century?
ROBERT I hadn’t seen any of the cast since the wrap on the movie! I’ve been living in Vancouver in Canada for the past 13 years, so it was lovely to be back working together again.
MARK It was fantastic to see everyone, and I think it’s great there’s been such a long period of time since the film for all the characters to grow, change and take shape.
So where do we find your characters at the start of the series?

Shona KIDNAPPED!
David Platt thought he was proper clever when he nabbed the bag of dirty cash that Damon Hay had left for Sarah - with the unexpected windfall, he was able to buy No.8 from Gail. He's not quite so smug now, though, is he? The money, it transpired, belonged to Harvey Gaskell, Damon's brother, and the incarcerated gangster wants it back. With interest. Harvey has already made threats to David, via his stooges on the outside, and this week he ups the ante and has Shona kidnapped.
