WHO IS ERIN CARTER?
FROM THURSDAY 24 AUGUST,
NETFLIX THRILLER

A seemingly ordinary British mum, wife and history teacher living the expat dream in sun-soaked Spain is at the heart of the titular mystery in glossy new action thriller Who Is Erin Carter?, launching on Netflix this week.

The seven-part series finds Erin (played by Swedish actor Evin Ahmad – see our interview, right) enjoying her tranquil world in Barcelona. But we soon see a very different side to her when she expertly fends off armed robbers during a supermarket raid to protect her daughter, Harper (The Midwich Cuckoos star Indica Watson).

As Erin attempts to keep her past under wraps, those around her get entangled in her mess – including the father of one of her pupils, Daniel Lang, played by Douglas Henshall in his first TV role since leaving BBC1’s hit crime drama Shetland last year. And while Daniel knows nothing about Erin’s double life, he might yet have a few secrets of his own.

Intrigued, TV Times caught up with Douglas, 57, for an exclusive interview to get more clues…

Daniel meets Erin when he’s called into school to discuss his son, Dylan. What’s his first impression of her?

He’s very worried about Dylan [newcomer Finnian Burke]. Daniel feels on some level that because he isn’t around enough that his son isn’t doing well. Erin seems to understand Dylan, she gets that this kid is bright, and Daniel works out that he could use her to his advantage, in that perhaps he could have a fulltime tutor and a strong mother figure for his son.
