Adam Thomas was delighted to reprise his role as Donte Charles when Waterloo Road was given a reboot earlier this year. But long-term fans of the BBC1 drama were left reeling after the former pupil’s wife, his childhood sweetheart Chlo (Katie Griffiths), was killed off in the first episode of the new run.
With the staff and students now back at the Greater Manchester school for a new term, Donte has been adjusting to life as a single dad to daughter Izzy (played by Adam’s real-life niece Scarlett Thomas, 14) and son Tommy (Adam’s eight-year-old son Teddy Thomas).
Here, Adam, 34, chats to TV Times about what the future might hold for his character, and his own schooldays…
Donte’s world fell apart when Chlo died suddenly from a brain injury after being hit accidentally by a car in series 11. How is he dealing with his loss?
