Cozy. Dreamy. Inviting. Warm.
Those are the words Jackie Lynn Thornton uses to describe her home, but they may not be the words that come to mind when you picture a 100-year-old bungalow. Jackie skillfully used her eye for design and love for old homes to achieve the ambience those words describe in renovating and reimagining her 1921 Craftsman bungalow.
"I achieved this look by using soft fabrics, soft pillows and throws. Also, soft paint palettes are soothing and relaxing," Jackie says. "I mixed a little dark wood with my creams and whites, which adds warmth to a room. Soft lighting also makes a home warm and inviting-and candles are a must! Adding floral accents can make a home feel happy. My windows are very tall, so I have the draperies hung very high, which makes the rooms feel larger. Adding mirrors, floral pictures, architectural wood pieces on the walls and baskets with blankets or dried flowers add that touch of cottage that completes the look."
LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
Jackie moved to Boise, Idaho, in 2017, when she was hired by Horizon Air as a flight attendant. "After living in Boise for two weeks, I decided to buy a home because I fell in love with the town," she explains. "I found an amazing realtor and we started the hunt for a forever home. I saw a home listed in the historic Downtown District and decided to check out the neighborhood. After driving through it, I decided I had to live there!"
