A WALK TO REMEMBER
When Jeni Stepien's father tragically lost his life, the family made the tough decision to donate his organs. But 10 years later, when planning her wedding, Jeni knew she wanted to somehow include her dad. Her father's heart had been received by Arthur Thomas in a life-saving op and, grateful for his second chance, he'd kept in contact with the Stepiens over the years. So prior to her special day, Jeni sent Arthur a letter asking if he'd walk her down the aisle.
Arthur agreed and was welcomed by the family with open arms. Escorting the bride down the aisle, Arthur then shared her first dance. 'What greater honour could a person have than walking the daughter of the man who's given his heart to him,' Arthur told KDKA. 'I was just so blessed he was there with us,' Jeni said.
