Bob Holz: Has Us on the “NIGHT WATCH”
Recorded live at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood, California, Holz and his band present a classic, earthy, and vibrant album with something for everyone.
For those who don’t know, Bob Holz is not your average drummer. He is a truly one of the top of this class. Having played across the musical spectrum with just about everyone from James Cotton to Johnny Winter to Shemika Copeland to Molly Hatchet to Eddie Money to Blue Oyster Cult to George Clinton/Parliament Funk, Holz comes with impeccable skill and style. He is joined by four equally accomplished and talented fellow musicians on this album who make sure that the sax, keys, bass, and lead guitar speak to the listener.
The album has ten tracks, most of which Holz has co-written with those featured on the album including Bill Steinway and Brandon Fields. Holz also collaborated with three-time nominated Grammy guitarist Frank Stepanek to write the one gem that gives us genuine island flavor and a reggae vibe (“Jammin Man”). The album brings us a good balance of song tempos with four of the numbers being upbeat, two that are slow, and the remaining four moderate.
