As India approaches 2047, the centenary of its independence, the dream of a “Viksit Bharat” – a fully developed, selfsufficient, and inclusive nation – is steadily turning into reality.

Viksit Bharat 2047: Empowering India through Education & Self-Reliance

This ambitious vision is not just about economic growth; it is about building a society that is technologically advanced, socially inclusive, and globally influential. In my roles as Chairman of the Prestige Education Foundation and Chancellor of Prestige University, Indore, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of education and self-reliance in shaping this vision. It is these twin pillars—education and self-reliance that will be critical in achieving our goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The Indispensable Role of Education

Education remains the most powerful tool for nurturing creativity, fostering innovation, and ensuring sustainable growth. India’s literacy rate stands at 77.7%, and while this is a commendable improvement, achieving universal literacy is crucial if we are to harness the full potential of our youth. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is a landmark initiative in this journey, focusing on holistic learning, skill development, and integrating technology into education. The policy encourages flexibility, critical thinking, creativity, and a global outlook.

At Prestige University and the Prestige Group of Institutions, we fully embrace the vision of NEP 2020. Our curriculum is forwardlooking, incorporating emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and data science while emphasizing ethical leadership and social responsibility. We aim to prepare students not just to be job seekers but job creators, instilling in them the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. By 2047, India needs millions of entrepreneurs who can drive growth in sectors like renewable energy, digital technology, and sustainable agriculture, to name a few.
