SNP men set off alarm as they went for sleep after night out

COUNCILLORS ARE CAUGHT NAPPING

TWO SNP councillors sparked a security alert after going back to Glasgow City Chambers in the early hours of the morning to sleep.

Sean Ferguson and Malcolm Mitchell apologised after setting off an alarm at the council HQ.

The pair have agreed to reimburse the council if the taxpayer is hit with a call-out charge for deactivating the alarm.

The Daily Record understands the pair decided to go into the city chambers to sleep after a night out when they couldn't get a taxi home.

But calls have been made for a full explanation by the councillors over the security breach.

Frank McAveety, a Glasgow Labour councillor, said: "All staff and councillors should vacate the City Chambers by 9pm unless at a function.
