TV STAR Nicky Campbell has demanded the Foreign Secretary steps in to speed up the extradition of a paedophile former teacher.
Iain Wares, 84, faces more than 80 charges in Scotland relating to abuse at private schools Fettes and Edinburgh Academy, where Nicky was subjected to repeated physical assaults.
The presenter and the rest of the Edinburgh Academy Survivors' group have accused justice authorities of a lack of urgency in getting Wares back to Scotland from his native South Africa.
After a meeting in London last week to discuss progress with Scottish prosecutors including Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain, the group have demanded the involvement of the Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.
It's understood the the request is being considered.
In a moving broadcast last year that provoked many other ex-pupils of the Academy to come forward, Campbell told of his distress at seeing Wares sexually abuse his close friend in a changing room.
Campbell has likened the scale of Wares' abuse to that of Jimmy Savile and described him as one of Britain's most prolific paedophiles.
