THE sisters of a rapist who sexually assaulted them for more than a decade have told of their delight after he was jailed for 10 years.
Edward Reid tried to claim Sarah McLeod and Chelsea Downing had conspired against him in a bid to get criminal injury compensation.
But the 32-year-old’s lies were not believed by a jury, who last month found him guilty of repeatedly raping and sexually abusing the girls between 2003 and 2013.
Chelsea and Sarah, who have waived their right to anonymity, told their mum about Reid’s abuse in September 2020, forcing her to call the police on her son.
And his mum wept in the public gallery as he was convicted at the High Court in Edinburgh after he forced his victims to give evidence. The brave sisters spoke to the Record so they could finally unmask their predator brother.
Reid, from Airdrie, has now been locked up and put on the sex offenders register for life.
