A COVID widow whose husband died alone yesterday said Boris Johnson's apology "means nothing" to bereaved families.
Jan Gillan and her daughters, from Glasgow's Carntyne, were deprived of being with husband Mark in his final moments as the 53-year-old lost his battle with the virus in April 2020.
The dad was forced to keep going to work in a factory as Covid gripped the country, despite suffering from a string of health problems.
Jan, 58, said she was enraged by the former PM's long-awaited first day of evidence before the public inquiry and believes he is taking "no accountability for his failings.
The apology came as the mum is set to tell the Scottish inquiry of her loss today, saying Boris' empty words will be "ringing in her ears"." She said: "Watching his evidence, I wanted to smash the television. I kept walking away and then going back to it. It was just a train wreck.
"There is nothing he can say to make it better for me and our three girls.
"Our lives have been destroyed and are still being destroyed, and he says sorry? I was deprived of the basic.
human right of sitting with my husband in his final moments and had to drive myself to his funeral with nobody. We then find out the Prime Minister is partying days after it.
