A FAMILY'S sunshine holiday turned into a nightmare after they witnessed a man being shot three times in the face at their resort pool.
Katrina Butler and her husband Bryan took their three sons to a five-star hotel in Cancun, Mexico.
But three days later the family witnessed a gun attack which forced them to run for cover and left them so traumatised they cut short their break.
Katrina, 49, told how she saw the man shot dead at the poolside as she and Bryan enjoyed a swim at the Riu Palace Peninsula.
She said: "As I am waist height in water I hear the gunfire, I immediately stopped in my tracks.
"My husband, further up the pool by this point, shouts get down and take cover'. My immediate thought was my children."
