LIGHTS DIM ON GRAND PLAN

ANDY MURRAY admits his days of winning Grand Slams could be over after slumping out of the US Open in the second round.

And he has suggested he’ll consider quitting if he starts to tumble down the rankings and falls out of the top 60.

In the Arthur Ashe Arena where he claimed his first Slam in 2012, the Scot was a shadow of his old self in a 6-3 6-4 6-1 loss to Grigor Dimitrov.

After constantly moaning at his coaching team, a weak double fault into the net on the Bulgarian’s third match point summed up his display.

Murray’s service was broken six times by his old rival and he hit only 16 winners.

The 36-year-old fought in the first set but it wasn’t enough, with the world No.37 still to get beyond the third round of a Slam since 2017, having had two hip ops and a metal hip inserted in between.
