LOST THREE DIE IN GLEN COE HORROR

THREE hillwalkers have been found dead in Glen Coe after failing to return from their hike.

Emergency services were called to the Aonach Eagach Ridge on Saturday after the group – understood to be two men and a woman – were reported missing just after 9pm.

Police, an HM Coastguard helicopter, the RAF and Glencoe Mountain Rescue team were dispatched to the scene to locate the missing hikers. Tragically, their bodies were discovered and a recovery operation took place.

Police Scotland said there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the deaths.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We were made aware of concern for a group of three hillwalkers who had not returned from the Aonach Eagach ridge in Glen Coe shortly after 9.05pm on Saturday, August 5.
