NOVAK DJOKOVIC warned he is not finished with a male record 23 Grand Slams as he immediately targeted retaining his Wimbledon title.

The Serb beat Casper Ruud to claim his third French Open and take the lead in the male GOAT race ahead of Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer for the first time.

Djokovic said: "I feel incredibly proud, fulfilled. But I am very motivated to continue to make history. I am not finished in my career. The journey is still not over. I feel age is just a number.

"If I'm winning Slams, why even think about ending the career that already has been going on for 20 years. I still feel motivated, I still feel inspired to play the best tennis in the Grand Slams. Those are the ones that count I guess the most in history of our sport. Now I want to win Wimbledon."

The career of the seven-time Wimbledon winner has never been far from controversy. He was disqualified from the 2020 US Open for hitting a line judge with a ball and then got deported from Australia last year after entering without a Covid vaccine.

He also missed last year's US Open but has still won six of his last eight Majors - he is the first man to win all the Grand Slams three times and is now halfway to a calendar Grand Slam.
