On grayling trail

IT'S been an ice box across the country recently The cold crisp weather is welcome though, it's left a lot of rivers looking perfect for grayling fishing as the water has dropped and cleared.

I took my chance and a drove down to the Borders this week for some bugging.

Among the postcard scenes are several lots of great beats for grayling across the south of Scotland from the Annan and Nith to the Tweed and Teviot.

Check the Fishpal site for availability or direct from the local Angling Associations but it's usually a very reasonable ticket for some beautiful fish.

I've been fishing bugs on a euro nymphing setup for a majority of my grayling trips, trying to get better at reading the river and doing something a little different with a rod that doesn't get used often enough.
