NATIVE oysters have returned to the Firth of Forth for the first time in 100 years as part of a huge nature restoration scheme.

They're the first of 30,000 oysters to be reintroduced to the estuary by the Restoration Firth project.

The aim is to create a new oyster reef which will provide a habitat for sea creatures such as fish, crabs, sea snails and sponges while also boosting photosynthesis for marine plants like seagrass.

It comes after the project carried out its first seeding of seagrass - a vital carbon absorber - in the firth this year.
