FM defends Erdogan meeting

HUMZA Yousaf has accused David Cameron of being "petty and misguided" as a diplomatic row between the Scottish and UK governments escalated.

It comes after Foreign Secretary Cameron blasted the First Minister in a letter for meeting with the Turkish president Recep Erdogan at COP28 last week without a Whitehall official being present.

Cameron threatened to suspend Foreign Office cooperation with the Scottish Government's overseas activities in response.

The UK Government complained to Angus Robertson, the Scottish Government minister for external affairs, that it had not been given sufficient notice.

But a spokesman for Yousaf insisted a UK official was invited in advance of Yousaf's meeting.
