A YOUNG pilot will become the first woman to fly a historic warplane rebuilt by OAPs, who started the job before she was even born.
The Sopwith Strutter helped Britain defeat Germany in World War I and an exact replica has been reconstructed by pensioners in East Lothian over the last 23 years.
Pilot Ellie Carter, 20, will be the first woman ever to fly a Sopwith Strutter.
Ellie, who qualified to fly at the age of 16, has a passion for vintage aircraft and was offered the chance to make history as the first female pilot of the Strutter.
