Police condemned for using Tasers on 41 kids in last year

POLICE in Scotland have been slammed after it was revealed they used Tasers on 41 children in the last year

The data, gathered for the 2022-23 financial year, shows a 17 per cent rise on the previous year, despite UN calls not to use the potentially lethal weapons on those aged under 18.

Police Scotland introduced Tasers in 2018, since when the weapons have been drawn or pointed at youngsters 101 times and fired eight times.

The eight incidents where the weapons were discharged have been reported to the Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC), with six of them deemed "appropriate and proportionate".
