The letter is one of 22 written by the scientist and other giants of the 20th century to Scots academic WD Ross.
These include world leaders Winston Churchill, Charles De Gaulle and Chiang Kai-shek.
Ross's daughter, Katherine Ross, has donated the letters to Oxfam to auction and all proceeds will go to the charity.
