SCOTT TIFFONEY made himself an instant favourite with the Dark Blue faithful by picking Dundee over United this summer.

The city rivals both made pitches for the out-of-contract winger after he left Partick Thistle, with the 24-year-old opting for Dens Park and a Premiership return.

Tiffoney then gave the fans an early glimpse of what they can expect with a brace on his debut in the friendly win at Brechin.

He said: “It’s always good to get off to a good start. I’ll take anything I get.

“I had a few clubs who were interested. After the heartbreak of the play-off final I had to meet a few of them and make my decision.

“One of the reasons I made the decision to come here was how much the manager, Tony Docherty, wanted me, how much he wanted me to do well. That was the stick-on point.

“That was something I was looking for. I didn’t want to make that mistake again and not have the manager’s confidence.”
