JIM GOODWIN wants to bring in another striker and a defender after letting Tony Watt return to Motherwell on loan.
The Dundee United gaffer admitted he couldn’t guarantee the well-travelled 30-year-old the first-team action he was demanding at Tannadice, as is the case with Liam Grimshaw.
But after sanctioning Watt’s move back to Fir Park – where he spent almost two years before leaving for Tayside – Goodwin now has the cash free to step up his chase for a striking option plus defensive cover for an injured Ryan Strain.
He said: “Obviously Tony’s frustrated with the lack of opportunities and he wants to play regular football.
“Grimmy’s another one in that position. Both played a huge part in getting us back to where we are today.
“But we’ve made a lot of new signings and both are senior players who want to be playing games.
