Refugee mum tells of her horror after boy, 13, is stabbed in street

A HORRIFIED mum sought refuge with her teenage son in Edinburgh from the war in Ukraine only for him to be stabbed in a street attack.

Iryna Drobysh received a terrifying phone call from her boy Yaroslav after he and two friends had been attacked by a gang in Niddrie.

The 43-year-old thought she had found a safe place to protect her son after the family fled the war in Ukraine but is now afraid to let him leave the house after he was rushed to hospital following the stabbing on Niddrie Mains Road.

Fighting back tears, Iryna said: "I want people to understand we didn't come here for trouble, we came fleeing the war because we had no other choice.
