Torrential rain & 40mph wind warning for Scotland as summer storm arrives

THE country has been put on high alert ahead of the arrival of Storm Betty today.

Torrential rain and wild weather are expected to cause flooding and winds of 40mph hitting the coasts.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather alert for large areas north and south of the Central Belt as the Atlantic storm rages in.

Some homes could be flooded in Central, Tayside and Fife, Grampian, Lothian and Borders, south-west Scotland and some western parts.
