HUGE pay rises for fatcat managers have masked wage cuts for millions of others, new figures show.

The highest earners in Britain work in business, IT and City of London banks, while the lowest work in manufacturing, education and hospitality, according to the Institute for Fiscal Studies.

And while champagne-swilling bankers have been handed large raises, real wage cuts across most of the UK have led to a widening in the earnings gap.
