Football fan's life saved by rival supporter

IT may have been among the more forgettable performances of Reading's season.
-
But supporter Pippa Sharman remembers everything about the day her team took on Luton Town in November 2022, especially what happened after the final whistle.
"It was the most boring nil-nil ever," said Pippa. "We were walking back to the car, and there was this almighty crash. A car had shot forward and T-boned another."
Driver Dave Norman had suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at the wheel - caused when an abnormal heart rhythm suddenly stops blood from being pumped around the body.
"I thought, 'Somebody's going to have to help," said Pippa. "I undid his seatbelt, pulled him from the car and started CPR.
"It was freezing and I think it was wet too, but you just go with it. Fortunately, I'm first aid trained, so I knew what to do. It just took over."
