Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stoutly defended Shah from the Congress' charge, asserting that the home minister in fact exposed the party's "dark history of insulting" the architect of the Constitution, leaving the main opposition "stung and stunned". "They are clearly stung and stunned by the facts he presented, which is why they are now indulging in thetrics. Sadly, for them, people know the truth," Modi said in a series of posts on X.
Key opposition leaders, including Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray, and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government for "insulting" Ambedkar.
The Congress said that Modi and Shah were "master distorians" persistently attacking their "favourite target". The opposition party asked whether it is too much to expect any adherence to truth and facts from the two leaders.
