RTE chief's timeline on payment scandal

NEW RTE chief Kevin Bakhurst has promised the Public Accounts Committee he will provide responses to 100 queries in relation to the secret payments scandal in five weeks.

This is the next D-Day for the national broadcaster as it prepares to come before the Dail's State spending watchdog committee for a further grilling on Tubsgate in October.

The Director General told PAC members yesterday, there are legal issues that need ironed out before he can formally respond.

However, he has now set Friday, September 15 for when he will provide a comprehensive reply to all of their queries.

Mr Bakhust will also be replying to the Dail's media committee by that stage too as they have a separate inquiry into the scandal.
