A CAMERA crew used thermal imaging equipment to discover how giraffes can survive in temperatures that soar above 50C.
Producer Rob Pilley visited some of the hottest places on Earth for the epic BBC wildlife series Mammals, narrated by Sir David Attenborough.
While filming the world’s tallest mammals living on the scorched desert plains of Namibia, his crew used special cameras to discover that the brown patches on giraffes help cool them down internally.
