RAF PILOTS have been flying into remote airstrips in Wales to rehearse rough landings as they prepare for a mercy dash to Lebanon to evacuate thousands of British civilians.

RAF's extra training as war looms in Lebanon

It follows a ratcheting up of tensions between Tel Aviv and the Iran-backed Hezbollah, which has been targeting Israel with missiles since October 7 in support of Hamas.

Last week The Sunday Express reported that Israel Defence Forces commanders were planning to resolve the stand-off which has forced 60,000 Israelis to evacuate their homes in northern Israel - "by September".

On Wednesday, Hezbollah confirmed one of its senior commanders, Mohammed Nimah Nasser, was killed in an Israeli air strike in southern Lebanon. The group retaliated with a barrage of rockets against Israel.
