Religious tourism, war on drugs focus of HP budget

HIMACHAL Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday tabled a 'tax-free budget' with an outlay of ₹58,514 crore for 2025-26 with focus on promoting religious and eco-tourism in the state while also strengthening the agrarian economy through participation of farmers, rural youth and women.
Besides, in a bid to combat drug abuse in the state, Sukhu announced constitution of a Special Task Force.
Sukhu, who holds the finance portfolio, arrived at the Assembly on Budget day driving his Alto car. Reading the 98-page Budget speech, he said the estimates aim to accelerate efforts towards making the state self-reliant.
