'Return to festivities,' says Mamata
The Morning Standard

AMID raging protests over the rape and murder of a doctor at the RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday urged people to "return to festivities" as Durga Puja is round the corner.
After the grisly crime at the hospital on August 9, many people hitting the streets declared that they would boycott Durga Puja, the biggest festival of the Bengalis.
Banerjee also requested the junior doctors to resume duty at the earliest after the Supreme Court directed the protesting doctors to resume work by 5 pm on Tuesday.
"The Supreme Court has requested you to join duty, I will repeat that request. If you have anything to say, you are always welcome. You can form a team of 5 to 10 members and meet me,” she said, offering acrossthe-table talks with the agitating doctors.
