Not mulling SCCL privatisation, merchants of lies exposed: PM
The Times of India Hyderabad
|November 13, 2022
There is no proposal to privatise Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) nor does the Centre have any such intention, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here on Saturday, terming it as rumours spread by vested interests in Hyderabad.
The Centre cannot privatise SCCL because it owns only 49% stake in the coal mining company and it’s the Telangana government that owns the majority stake, Modi said, while addressing a well-attended meeting at the Ramagundam Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd (RFCL) here. He also laid the foundation and dedicated to the nation projects of nearly Rs 10,000 crore
In a veiled attack on chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the PM said, “The ‘merchants of lies have been exposed. Witnessing such a large gathering here will give sleepless nights to some people in Hyderabad.”
