Edmunds seals 'unexpected' silver treble at Track Euros

Welshwoman shines on senior debut in Belgium

Rhian Edmunds had pinned her hopes on a top-eight result in the individual sprint at last week's European Track Championships, so when she ended up going home with a silver medal, plus two more in the keirin and team sprint, she couldn't quite believe it. The 21-year-old, making her elite debut at the championships, went into the event in Belgium with "no expectations", she told Cycling Weekly. She now believes she's "a little bit better" than she initially thought, having taken world champions and Olympic medallists to the wire.
