Up For Parol - I’d like to think this horse has a decent pot in him at some point this season. He has been an eye-catcher on a few occasions over his career but hasn’t quite gone on and realised that potential. He has run some nice races at Kempton and I’m sure connections will be eyeing up a tilt at the Lanzarote again but he might just want a little bit further these days. He stayed on powerfully behind an impressive winner at Sandown last time on his reappearance which he should come forward from. If improving for that then he might finally land that big pot which connections know he is capable of.
Torneo - After his last performance at Hereford I hope Jamie Snowden agrees with me that this young chaser needs a step up in trip. A couple of sound efforts over 2m have advertised plenty of promise but both runs he was closing late on, only really just getting going. With his weight for age allowance being a 4 year old chaser, is definitely helping him compete with his older rivals but I just feel he needs that extra yardage if he is get his head in front. His jumping has been brilliant which is always the worry with such young horses so I hold no fears for him next time out provided it is over further.
Knight Of Allen - I was quietly confident about his chance at Haydock last time out despite his double figure price. He, like I thought he would, outran his odds and finished third in a very hot 2m 3f handicap hurdle and was one of only a few horses that got close to all the way leader Steel Ally. The step up in trip certainly suited him and it was definitely a career best effort from Jane Williams’ inmate. That stable, as this goes to press, has just started to get going and they will likely take their time to pick his next race as I think he really likes bottomless ground. I’m sure there will be plenty of options in January/February and I will be very interested in him wherever he goes.
