HOW lovely it is to have the Limekiln gallops open for the season here at Newmarket and I have even spotted the first Swallows in the air, to have them back is so wonderful. Much work is going on now and all the horses are back in faster work, apart from the Limekilns the gallops over Racecourse side is seeing serious work going on again as trainers get their horses ready for the new season engagements.
Sir Michael Stoute is looking forward to this season very much as he has DESERT CROWN back in training at Freemason Lodge. The son of Nathaniel has just started faster work and is looking great at the moment. NOSTRUM, owned by Juddmonte Farms, has really strengthened and done well during the winter break and is working away in nice fashion. CIRCLE OF FIRE, owned by King Charles, is impressing me most of all, the son of Almanzor is really pointing his toe in his work out on the gallops and look set for a good season in the Royal colours.
I hope you like this photo of me waiting to get a lift in the Stoute horsebox over to the gallops.
