Kevin De Bruyne has cemented his status as arguably the best midfielder in the world this season, playing a key role in Manchester City's bid for the Premier League title

Much has been made of the spectacular goals scored by midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, but there is also zero doubt that he is the current assist king in the Premier League, too.

The Belgian midfielder has gone from Chelsea flop to arguably the best in his position in the world, and in many ways of the heartbeat of the Manchester City side that has been so dominant in recent years.

He can create a chance from nothing, picking up balls when there appears to be no danger, and in the blink of an eye, can unlock an opposition defence with a pass or piece of skill that leaves opponents bamboozled.

Erling Haaland has won praise for his start to life in the Premier League, which includes an astonishing 17 Premier League goals, but De Bruyne already has nine assists to go with his three goals and has been almost as impressive.

De Bruyne's 95 assists in his Premier League career is already more than some of the greats of the game Thierry Henry (74), David Beckham (80), Steven Gerrard (92) and Dennis Bergkamp (94).

Few would bet against him chasing down the record-holder in former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs (162) in a City side with such excellent attacking threat.
