After a rocky start, Erik ten Hag has got Manchester United firing this season. Are the glory days returning?

Many had doubts about M Manchester United's appointment of Erik ten Hag since his arrival from Ajax Amsterdam, but the Dutch coach is allowing fans to believe in the prospect of returning to their glory days.

The Red Devils may not be at the level of dominance they once had under Sir Alex Ferguson, but they are finally showing signs of a resurgence under Ten Hag.

United's improvement is a feat on its own following their nightmare start to the season, which saw them languishing at the foot of the table after losses to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford in their first two matches. The latter was a 4-0 drubbing.

United has also had to weather the seemingly unending storm of fan unrest against American owners the Glazer family, as well as contending with the controversial departure of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

The appointment of the Dutch tactician in April last year from Ajax proved crucial. United chief executive Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough wanted a coach that would instil discipline and structure within the squad, as well as building strength of character on the pitch and in the dressing room.
