The 21-year-old former Everton forward, who joined the Foxes in September, marked his first start with a double (40 & 61 mins), while Ricardo Pereira (47) and Stephy Mavididi (77) also got in on the act. Michal Helik (63) replied for the Terriers.

“Tom deserves it,” said Foxes boss Enzo Maresca. “He joined the club, and was injured for two or three months, so it was not an easy moment but I’m happy for him tonight.

“He is still very young and can improve many things, as can we as a team.”

Leicester’s victory enabled them to move ten points clear at the top of the Championship. Closest challengers Ipswich had to settle for a point from a goalless draw at Stoke.

The Potters were reduced to ten men midway through the second half when Jordan Thompson was sent off for two bookings, but the Tractor Boys couldn’t make the breakthrough. It left them without a win in five matches.
